Hi there,
I currently have an Office 365 with ADFS2.0 and Dirsync for SSO.
The ADFS2.0 and DirSync servers are both Windows Server 2008 R2 but I am in the process of migrating my whole backend environment to Windows Server 2012 level.
My first question - should I upgrade the DirSync server before, after, or at the same time as the ADFS 2.0 server?
And second - if I am to upgrade the DirSync server first, is it as simple as the post by Yang Yu [here]? Stop and shutdown the old server > Install on new server > Decommission old server?
To upgrade the Dirsync server, you don’t need to perform any migration activity. You can follow the steps below to upgrade your Dirsync server.
1. Stop Dirsync service on the old server which is Windows Server 2008.
2. Download the Windows Azure Active Directory Sync tool and install it on Windows Server 2012. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=278924
3. Double click on Directory Sync Configuration Wizard which you just installed and run the wizard.
4. After finishing the wizard, the Office 365 service will automatically recognize Windows Server 2012 as the Directory Sync server.
Thanks in advance.
