I’d like to explain that the Directory sync in Office 365 is used to sync certain on-premises “objects” to Office 365. You can refer to the following article for more information: Directory synchronization roadmap
For “Directory integration is being looked at as a way to ease some of the pain of this Windows store experience”, as far as I know, the integration via the Dirsync has nothing to do with the Windows store experience since the Microsoft account used in the store is different from Office 365.
If you wasn't referring to the Directory sync above, could you provide more detailed descritpions about the "Directory integration" you mentioned?
