To narrow down the root cause of the issue, could you provide the following information for me?
1. Could you capture a screenshot of the error message when you restart the Active Directory Sync tool? To upload a picture, please click Use rich formatting under the reply box and then click Insert Image icon.
2. When you mentioned “The dirsync failed to sync with active directory”, do you mean that the users cannot be synced to Office 365, or there are any other detailed symptoms? Could you use DirSync before?
3. Could you use another local administrator to check if the issue persists?
