Q1: Is it correct that using the latest version of DirSync (and perhaps even previous versions), I can filter OUs (organizational units) and sync only certain users (in selected OUs) to Office 365?
A1: Yes, you're right. We can configure DirSync with OU level filtering for Office365.

Q2: Now that DirSync also syncs passwords, is it necessary to assign a temp password to users after assigning them a license? My scenario would be a staged migration. How does that work? If the password is synched, I would think that *that* password would be used (no need for another password, temp or not).
A2: It is not necessary to assign a temp password to users after assigning them a license. The passowrd will be synced to Office 365 too.
