Hi All,
I am in the middle (maybe nearing the end) of a Hybrid connection from a single Exchange 2010 server. I am not planning on setting up ADFS for this client and am needing to sync up about 9 domains with one of these domains Schwartz.net.au being the primary. I have ran the on premise hybrid configuration wizard for the single domain Schwartz.net.au and this seems to have completed successfully. I have been able to create a new on MS Online mailbox from the On Premise EMC and this synced up to the portal correctly.
I have setup lync DNS and almost completed the mail DNS records, so far they are verified in the online portal and some were verified in the EMC Hybrid Wizard.
Now I have a few questions the first one is as follows. How can I confirm that mail will get delivered via O365 to the on premise mailboxes after I make the DNS change. I cannot afford to loose connection at any time for the clients mail.
Here is what I do know. I have two DNS records to go for the first domain. They are:
MX 0 @ schwartz-net-au.mail.protection.outlook.com 1 Hour
CNAME - autodiscover autodiscover.outlook.com 1 Hour
TXT @ v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all 1 Hour
If I make this change straight away how can I confirm that things will keep working as normal. I have done a telnet test to schwartz-net-au.mail.protection.outlook.com and it is accepting the connection for the domain so things seem ok there. And I see in the Forefront that the message was accepted but was detected as spam which makes sense as shown below:
So it would appear after the DNS changes above the messages would come into the Forefront and then get delivered OK.
Am I correct here?
The second question is on mailbox moves but I will wait until after this bit of guidance.
Thanks in advance of any advice.
