We are looking into setting up federation services between our on-premise active directory and our existing Office 365 domain. The Office 365 domain has already been set up for quite a while now (with some users already set up in it), and the next step for us is to link it with our on-premise active directory.
One question that we couldn't find the answer to, is what happens to our existing users in the the Office 365 domain once that the domain is converted to a federated domain?
Will the federation services only affect users that are added with DirSync? or will it affect manually created users as well (users that were created before the federation)? Will we still be able to log in to the Microsoft Online Portal with the Office 365 domain Admin account?
Please note that some users that are currently set up in Office 365 do not necessarily have an Active Directory account at the moment.
